Danger High Voltage is a 6 reel slot with 4096 ways to win, brought to you by Big Time Gaming. It is one of their most successful slots and has an electric disco theme complete with its own soundtrack- a feature of many slots in the Big Time Gaming category.

You can play Danger High Voltage with a bet size of just 20p, and the max stake is either £20 or £40 depending on where you play. The slot has an RTP of 96.22% which is a pretty standard return of most of the slots we feature, and it can be described as medium to high in terms of volatility. Although the base game can and does throw in some big wins, the main potential with Danger High Voltage comes from its two bonus features comprising of free spins. So is it worth a punt? Danger High Voltage Slot – Stakes & Stats

The Danger High Voltage slot consists of 6 reels with 4096 ways to win. All wins are paid from left to right by matching symbols on adjacent reels.

You can play from as little as 20p, with a maximum £20 or £40 stake depending on where you play. Players outside the UK, can also take advantage of the auto play feature which is customisable for loss limits.

Danger High Voltage has an RTP of 96.22% and is best described as medium to high in terms of volatility. Because of this, it just about remains entertaining to play and still throws in some decent wins. When testing the slot for this review, I played over 5 sessions and found more decent base game wins in one of the sessions versus less in the other 2 sessions but more bonus chances.

Danger High Voltage is equipped with wild symbols that cover all of the reel, and it also has wild symbols that multiply the win by 6- in a similar style to Lil’ Devil. You can win up to 10,800 X during the base game and up to 15,746 in the free spins.

Electric Wins & Disco!

danger high voltage slot review thumbnail

The Danger High Voltage slot by Big Time Gaming has an electric disco theme with its own chart topping soundtrack. Whilst other slots may be based on film or TV shows, Danger High Voltage has gone for a theme based purely on a record. Danger! High Voltage was a hit by American band Electric Six and uses the song for the slot, alongside disco graphics. Playing the slot makes you feel as though you are inside a disco glitter ball, and the graphics have a retro vibe.

The slot’s lower paying symbols are the standard 9, 10, J, Q, K and A. However, even they have the potential for decent wins if you gather enough of them. The higher paying symbols are the taco, disco ball, bell and skull. The latter will pay up to 25 X. However, there are also stacked wilds, and 6 X wilds that really do ramp up the wins. Look out for the ‘My Desire’ scatter symbols too. You’ll need 3 or more of them to enter the Danger High Voltage free spin feature.

The game’s backing music has a techno feel with short guitar riffs taken from the game’s main song Danger! High Voltage. You’ll hear a section of this begin to play when you land 2 scatter symbols that tease of the bonus that comes if you land the 3rd. If that does happen, you’ll find yourself with a difficult decision…

Danger High Voltage Slot Review Bonus Choice

Danger High Voltage Free Spins

The big excitement with Danger High Voltage has to be the free spin bonus. Activated by 3 or more ‘My Desire’ scatter symbols, you’ll be awarded 15 free spins in High Voltage, or 7 in the Gates of Hell bonus. However, each feature has it’s own re-trigger for more spins.

I mentioned that it was a difficult choice between the two bonuses, and both can give amazing results. Equally, both can also disappoint! There are plenty of casino streamers on YouTube that tend to prefer the Gates of Hell Feature, but personally I prefer High Voltage. I’ll explain why below…

Danger High Voltage Slot Review High Voltage Bonus Feature

High Voltage Free Spins

With this bonus, you start with 15 free spins and you’ll see reels 2 – 5 surrounded by an electric current. As the spins play out, stacked wilds can appear on reels 2- 5 with a climbing multiplier. It can multiply your win by 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, or even 66 X! The slot builds the tension as the multiplier climbs, and I think Big Time Gaming have nailed the suspense with this alongside the electric sound effects.

Like any free spin feature on any slot, there is always the potential for disappointment. However, I do feel you have a greater chance in landing big wins with the High Voltage feature, especially as it can re-trigger with another 15 spins. In fact, I have experienced it re-trigger more than once on a few occasions landing some cracking wins. It is for that reason that High Voltage is my preferred bonus, and I feel like at least you’re getting your moneys worth. Conversely, The Gates of Hell bonus can sometimes feel like it’s over way too quickly. More on that one below…

Danger High Voltage Slot Review Gates of Hell Bonus

Gates of Hell Free Spins

The Gates of Hell bonus will initially award you 7 free spins. A random symbol is selected for the bonus, and if this lands on reels 2- 5, it will turn into a sticky wild. If you manage to land 4 on any of those reel, you’ll be awarded an additional 4 free spins. The dream scenario here would be to complete all of the reels, or at least link the wilds all the way across. I feel that your chances of doing this are significantly increased if the random symbol selected for the wild at the beginning of the bonus is a low value one. For example, you’re probably more likely to land multiple 9s or 10s, as opposed to multiple skulls. Any time I’ve played this bonus, my heart as always sank when I see the skull selected, as that has always led to a poor bonus in my experience.

Whilst the Gates of Hell bonus can truly produce some amazing wins, I do feel it is the more volatile choice between the two bonuses. Perhaps it’s just the luck I have had with it, but all too often I see the spins play out with no big wins. I think the re-trigger with this feature is a must have to produce any decent results, but there are plenty videos out there which show great results with this feature. I’ll leave it up to you to decide!

Danger High Voltage Slot Review 6 X Bonus

Danger High Voltage Wilds

Danger High Voltage also comes with the stacked wilds and 6 X wilds. Whilst not a bonus feature, they do add an extra layer of interest to the base game. You’ll probably find the better wins in the free spin bonuses, but the addition of these wilds can really transform any base game win.

Theme

The theme to Danger High Voltage is basically disco, and in terms of appearance, it’s almost like you’re inside a glitter ball. The slot itself looks good and is well drawn. However, the graphics don’t exactly look sharp, and I’m not sure if Big Time Gaming were aiming to go slightly retro to match the song. If that was the case, then I’m afraid it was kind of lost on me, and I’m of the opinion that they’ve actually created something rather dated looking.

Much of what goes on visually is linked to the soundtrack, which of course is the song Danger! High Voltage by Electric Six. Therefore, you’ll see visual representations of buzzing electrics. You’ll also see elements of the lyrics in the reel symbols. Having said that, you’ll also see the standard playing card numbers and letters, and in this case I think they overshadow the theme

Overall, I would say the theme is average and there are much better music themed slots that have come along since.

Soundtrack

As mentioned, the Danger High Voltage slot is based on the song released by Electric Six in 2002. I’m not really a fan of the band or the song, but even trying to be objective I found it a little too repetitive for my liking. This is especially true when you get the scatter teases which can happen a lot. At this point, you’ll hear a short section of the song play, and it can get just a little irritating. However, the soundtrack is in keeping with the graphics on the slot though and together they make the slot one that you could probably enjoy for a while. Unless you end up winning big however, I don’t think the soundtrack alone is enough to make you want to come back. It’s for that reason that we give it another average score.

Gameplay

I thought the gameplay on Danger High Voltage was a little too slow, but not so much so that it made me want to leave. You don’t get quick spins on Big Time Gaming’s slots, but I did find myself occasionally wishing there was that facility. However, the game does throw in some decent wins in the base game due to the multipliers and this just about saves the gameplay from a really bad score.

However, what does drag the score down is the game’s volatility. By the time you land the bonus, you do feel like you deserve it to be a decent one. Alas, all too often you come away disappointed. That being said, I know the game is capable of some incredible wins, and in its favour, the Danger High Voltage slot is certainly not the worst offender for that.

Danger High Voltage is equipped with the win count-up method and music that have become a bit of a hall mark for Big Time Gaming. Thankfully, you do get to see that often enough regardless of the stake you play at. Again, I think this adds to the quality of the gameplay to result in a fairly reasonable score overall for this element.

Entertainment Value

It’s true to say that you can win or lose large amounts of money on any slot, so I try to keep my focus away from that. I find it more helpful to discuss the entertainment value of the slot, because ultimately that’s what will keep you playing. I did find this aspect to be a little lacking. Perhaps it was because the theme was focused so heavily on one song that I happened not to be too keen on. However, even so I just ended up bored playing it.

You won’t find much animation on this slot, and you do only ever hear part of the song. If you add the higher volatility into the mix, then you’re not really left with a great motivation to keep playing.

I think if you have a decent bank roll, and a little more patience, you may well form a different opinion. For me, I think the slot lacked something. I’m not quite sure what, but maybe I should introduce a new category and call it ‘The M’eh’ factor! I think Danger High Voltage would score highly on that.

An average score therefore in terms of entertainment.

Conclusion

Writing the Danger High Voltage slot review has been a bit of a strange one for me, because I really do feel like I should be putting a better spin on it. There will most likely be a lot of people that disagree, but we do promise honest reviews here, and I can only speak from my own experience! I want to like it, but with everything taken into account, I would say it’s distinctly average. I guess it’s just one of those that really does come down to whether you win big or not. So whilst I certainly wont say that you should avoid it, I would exercise a bit of caution and only play if you really do feel like more of a risk.
